We had the full desert experience during this shoot! Matt and I had been commenting all week how beautiful the desert is, especially the amazing sunsets. So there we were with Mikayla and Takoda, halfway through our shoot. I was just minding my own business, shooting away, wearing my chacos, when all of a sudden I felt a sharp pain to my foot. But I was mid pose, so I couldn't stop! Then I felt more pain...I couldn't bare it, I pulled the camera away from my face and looked down. There, attached to my toe, was a SPIKY BALL OF DEATH! Stuck to my other foot were two more. I had stumbled into a jumping cactus and three had attached to my feet! I didn't know if I should laugh, cry, scream for help, or take a picture....so I did all of the above. They hurt even worse getting out then they did going in. Luckily we were with some pros, Takoda started prying them out. We got 2 out of three 3 detached. Matt and Takoda started working on the third one, the one on my toe. This one hurt the most! Just as they pried it off, it jumped from my foot to Matt's hand!!! It stuck his thumb and middle finger. He pulled his fingers as far apart as they would go, and it popped off.
Needless to say, I will no longer be wearing chacos in the desert...or walking around without looking.
It was 1000000% worth it though! Just check these out!
