How to Get The Most Out of Your Wedding Cake
As a wedding photographer there's one thing I see over and over again that I cannot stand!! WASTED WEDDING CAKE! 90% of the time the same thing happens; if you've been to a wedding in the last year I'm sure you've seen the same thing. The cake sits so beautifully at the reception, and it makes for a really pretty photo. The reception goes on, then it's finally time for the cake cutting. The wedding couple cuts the cake, serves it to each other, the crowd cheers, and the dancing starts.
At the end of the night, the couple leaves and the cake gets thrown out!! All the tasty goodness, the hard work, and not to mention the money goes to waste. But we don't want to NOT have a cake! That's no fun. It's time to stop wasting money on your cake.
If you want to get the most out of your wedding cake, assign someone to cut it and serve it to guests. Cut the cake towards the middle, instead of the end, of your reception. After you cut it, assign someone (ahead of time) to cut the rest of the cake and set it out to be eaten. If you do this, you can cut back on the refreshments you have and kill two birds with one stone!
